SHAKYA HEWAGAMA PMP
NAME: Shakya . B.
D. Hewagama
OBJECTIVE: To manage
projects by process groups, project initiation, planning, executing,
monitoring and controlling and closing using knowledge areas integration
management, scope management, time management, cost management, quality
management, human resource management, communication management, risk
management and procurement management.
SKILLS: Experience in
working under many demanding and challenging work environments
PROJECT
MANAGEMENT: Leading development/improvements to cost
effective construction procedures and schedules and analyzing projects using
Performance Indexes (EVM). Maintaining Construction and Master Schedules.
Evaluation of existing program procedures and constructability reviews.
Utilization of information tracking software
AUTOMATION OF
PROGRAM INFORMATION: On demand extraction of
program data for project groups and as well as for individual projects for
tracking and reporting purposes is a recurring requirement for project
control processes. To extract accurate data in a time dependent environment
by manual methods is not practical or effective due to the dynamic nature of
project activities. In view of addressing this issue as well as to eliminate
unavoidable human error during data entry, I automated many high level and
detailed reports to extract data from one source automatically. This action
has improved the efficiency and the quality of my work that positively
attracted the customer’s admiration and gratitude
PLANNING AND
SCHEDULING: Money and time trade off was considered as the
primary objective in planning, scheduling and tracking. Studied various
engineering information systems and planning software used in these
establishments and applied my knowledge and skills to achieve the objective
with minimum expenditure of time money and resources and considered team work
as the primary key in achieving a goal successfully and contributed to the
same. Worked as the Lead Planner in FAA ATO-E Facilities Planning and
Modernization NISC Support Group. Appointed as the instructor for Primavera
Project Planner P3 in the Project Controls Department of National
Telecommunications Co Ltd (ISO 9001). Trained project control engineers in
Primavera Project Planner P3

WORK SUMMARY
I mainly used Primavera Project Planner PM as
Planning Tools that works on Windows. The schedule was based on Precedence
Diagram Method (PDM) and Critical Path Method (CPM)
Creating Project Groups consisting of several sub
projects were used in the method of management and projects were organized to
a structure (WBS or Activity Codes)
Used to work on both Bar Chart View and PERT
(Relationship Tracking) View
Custom data items were used for customizing the
schedule to suit the demands unique to different types of schedules
Layouts and Filters including summarized
schedules were always used to make the projects reasonable and manageable
The powerful data exporting system and Global
Change in Primavera were extensively used during planning and tracking of the
schedule
The sequence of work combined with expected
constrains such as finish dates and project logic were used across projects
to ascertain requirement of the client
Resource allocations together with assigning
resource calendars, Splitting Stretching and Crunching activities together
with resource loading curves to meet the demands and availability of
recourses were considered during the planning stages of projects
Analyzing and tracking of schedules were carried
out depending on floats (i.e. Total Float and Free Float), Variances (i.e.
Schedule Variance and Cost Variance) and “S” Curves.
Presentation of project schedules for periodical
reporting and analyzing were prepared to the requisites and satisfaction of
the client using many inbuilt reports (e.g. Tabular, Graphic) and using
Report Writer function where customized reports were required.
Schedule completion dates with cost variances and
schedule variances and budgeted cost for work performed (Earned Value) were
considered for reporting progress. Free float was considered to determine the
start dates of activities, which were externally connected, to the main
schedule (E.g. Material procurement). Total float was considered to determine
the critical path of the project. Backward pass and driving relationships
were analyzed to identify the problem areas (i.e. activities, phases and
milestones)
Writing of Narrative Reports through evaluation
of projects
